DATA ENGINEER - INTERN

The Database Service department at ILS ( a CAMP system company) is looking for a self-motivated, forward-thinking, highly-skilled Oracle Data Engineer to join its team supporting the Aerospace aftermarket. This position reports to the Manager of Database Services. The Oracle Data Engineer’s central responsibility will be to develop, optimize, and oversee our company’s conceptual and logical data structures which are the backbone of a part sourcing and procurement suite of tools as well as develop new applications, support existing and new ETL, and data scraping, munging, and ingestion for analytics.

Responsibilities

·      Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop new products and services and enhance existing products and services.
·      Support software development teams with good table design, the development of required CRUD operations, and query optimization.
·      Ensure data architecture and standards meet the current and future needs of the business.
·      Ensure data integrity, maintain data models, data dictionaries, and other documentation to maintain good data governance practices.
·      Diagnose production database performance issues and provide solutions to quickly resolve.
·      Keep up with technology trends and emerging best practices to consistently evolve current solutions.
·      Support and contribute to ongoing machine learning initiatives including a price prediction algorithm fed by 30 years of historical pricing data.

Qualifications & Skills

·      Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering
·      Exposure to data modeling.
·      Exposure to SQL and/or PL/SQL
·      Strong Microsoft Office skills
·      Able to organize, detail oriented and capable of multi-tasking
·      Strong aptitude to pick up new tasks and learn new technologies quickly
·      Python, R, ML/statistical background a plus
·      Comprehension of performance and SQL tuning tool sets and methodologies a plus
·      Experience in developing stored procedures, triggers, functions, etc.
·      Knowledge with Linux command line interface and scripting a plus
·      Familiarity with Agile methodologies including SCRUM and Kanban a plus
·      Experience supporting micro-service architecture a plus
·      Experience with ODI, not required but preferred
